A highlight of the dinner is the charitable auction for a PFV Collection Case containing one bottle of each member’s finest current vintage.
Elegantly displayed in a mahogany box, the collections have been presented in the past to kings, such as King Juan Carlos I of Spain in 1995 and King Carl Gustaf XVI of Sweden in 1999, as well as to selected world leaders. Internationally acclaimed Master of Wine Serena Sutcliffe, who heads Sotheby’s worldwide wine auctions, will conduct the auction of the rare wine collection.
The funds raised by the auction will be donated to Heep Hong Society to help children with autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and specific learning difficulties. Established in 1963, Heep Hong Penankjh Society is one of Hong Kong’s largest service providers of early intervention and education for disabled children, operating more than 30 service units throughout Hong Kong and serving over 6,000 families each year.
“It has always been our goal to serve the local community. The gala dinner offers our hotel a remarkable opportunity to benefit underprivileged children while delighting our guests with an exceptional platform to personally meet 11 world renowned wine producers,” said Darren Gearing, Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong’s area manager and general manager.
Tables for the gala dinner are sold through Restaurant Petrus on level 56 of the hotel. Advanced reservations are quite understandably an absolute must.
